The Gap Rest House is a large Tudor bungalow that overlooks the trunk road from Kuala Kubu Bharu, perched on a slope just before the Gap Road entrance gate to Bukit Fraser. A popular hotel run by the government in the eighties and nineties, it was closed momentarily for a refurbishment exercise in the twenties, but work mysteriously stopped as it neared completion. Today, it remains unfinished; the paintwork still looks new and the walls remain intact, but the halls and rooms inside lie in disarray, strewn with broken glass windows and scattered tiles. Unfenced, it's a curious attraction for visitors to explore while waiting at the Gap, perhaps to reopen one fine day.
